New sprocket for Fermec MF135 mini excavator

The sprocket is a key component in the undercarriage of the excavator, mini excavator. It transmits the power of the engine to the rubber track or steel track and ensures that the machine moves. A worn sprocket can significantly shorten the service life of the entire track and cause expensive consequential damage.

Sprockets are offered in various designs. The rubber track or steel track fitted in each case determines which sprocket is used.

Besides the standard specifications such as number of holes, number of teeth, inner diameter and pitch circle diameter, one of the most important dimensions of the sprocket is the pitch, meaning the distance from one tooth to the next. The sprocket tooth should always sit centrally between the drive segments of the track in use.

For the sprocket to function properly, the teeth must not be worn to too sharp a point and the valleys between the teeth must not be too heavily washed out. If the sprocket looks like a circular saw blade, it is already too late. The main wear on the sprocket is on the teeth themselves. If the teeth are worn too far, they no longer engage centrally in the intended drive segments but grind against the edge of the track webs.
